A motor lodge in Nelson is the 21st best hotel in the world? **** off. That proves its rubbish.

I think Socrates himself would agree with you. For example, he could not conceal his contempt for the weaknesses of democracy. He believed its chief fault was that it did not require proof of special knowledge in its leaders. Worse, that on the morality of justice of a policy it treated the opinions of all citizens as equal.

Similarly, there are conditions that must exist to prevent "Wisdom of the Crowds" from becoming "Mob Rules". Many more than just Scale and Filter. But we are only just beginning to understand these conditions.

Filtering or governance

Filtering assumes information should be discarded.. Sometimes however the wisdom of a crowd needs a level of governance to mediate disputes and to validate assumptions, sources, credibility etc..

The difference between a valuable "group think" and "mad ramblings" is accountability to a credible source. Same goes for all valuable information
